I know its been a good bit of time since I sent my design off to the machine shop. Unfortunately for me they were incredibly busy at the time so I had myself a rather long wait to have my parts finished up.
Just yesterday I received a call being told my P1 (prototype 1) steering arm was finished and ready for testing. Super excited about this I headed on over to the shop to pick it up and here's what it looks like.
Now I know it doesn't look like much, but this is exactly what I wanted it to be. This is a prototype to be used for test fitting and checking arm length along with ackerman position. Its not made to look pretty or have any fancy machine work done to it, its simply something to test fit on the knuckles, check clearances, maximum angle, and ackerman.
After testing this arm I will continue making more prototypes to test fit, each one having very slight changes from the previous one, changing the length and ackerman position 1-3mm at a time until I reach a point where it stops getting better. Then once I reach that point I'll make a final design which will resemble something like this.
If all goes according to plan I hope to have the final product finished come spring and if anyone is interested in obtaining a pair I might also consider selling them.
